I'm back!

I'm back- I pretty much forgot I had one of these and then never thought to post in it when I DID remember I had it. I'm working on the blogging thing, I swear!

I have a ton of things I could post from the past like 8 months, but instead I'll just start over with today. Maybe I'll play catch up in the near future!

I'm taking part/organizing a quilt block-a-long on Craftster (join the forums and the block-a-long!), so today I actually did BOTH of my blocks! I know, I'm surprised too!

These are September's blocks

Fabric, and buttons, and moving! Oh my!

This has been such a hectic weekend, but it was brought to a wonderful end by the delivery of some awesome mail packages!

First, on Friday, I received a package of buttons from Auntie Di's (link coming, I can't get on the site) etsy shop. I ordered a bunch of orange buttons and a bunch of purple ones-- and she threw in a bunch of others for free! I love freebies! :)

Then, after moving all weekend, I got a very yummy package from Hart's Fabrics... Oh, how I love thee. It made my sad, uncrafty little day!

Enjoy the pictures! Please leave me comments so I know you were here! :)

*All the teacups and saucers were made by Nancy's grandmother! Aren't they pretty?

Pillows galore!

Sadly, this weekend I found out one of my old childhood friends died last week. He was a good guy, not someone I was extremely close to in the past but someone who's in a ton of my memories... and I'm just shocked completely by his death. He was only 22 years old, like myself, and had so much life in front of him. There are a lot of people who will miss him. Rest in peace, Matt.

All weekend I've found myself thinking back to New Jersey and growing up and all my Robinson friends... and everything I miss. I was a little down and just needed something to do so that I could think and occupy my mind. I decided on a messy log cabin pillow. I used all scraps for this, mainly so that I could use this cute rainbow fabric I haven't been able to use before. I'll be giving this to Nancy... but it was all inspired by my childhood, and part of me wants to name it something after that.

The other pillow was made on a whim today. I sketched out the quilt pattern at work, and came home and again found myself just needing to relax. I still needed to make an entry for the Quilt Challenge at Craftster, and I really wanted to use some of the wonderful scrap fabric Pam/kittykill sent to me. I just put it all together and came up with this little cutie. I really love the way it turned out.

To the future, the past, and childhood memories that we'll all never forget.

Birdie ATC

What is one to do when they are down in the dumps for no good reason? Make a bright and cheery birdie ATC!
I don't do these often, so excuse any mistakes there might be. It was just for good fun!

Scrapbook paper + frame = awesomeness!

For the Capture 24 swap on Craftster.org I created a really nice frame for my partner, kiki*eks. I bought a frame from Michaels, and got some funky "retro" like scrapbook papers and coordinating ribbon in her favorite colors. This project was a lot of fun and reminded me of the good ol' days of kindergarten! Lots of cutting and gluing! :) It was also nice because my mom crafted along with me, and it's always nice to bond with my mommy over nice, fun crafts!

Floral Arranging?

Maybe this isn't quite floral arranging but one of my Christmas presents to Kim was a vase filled with potpourri, and some pretty dried... sticks? I'm not sure what they were. She really enjoys scented items so my mom helped me think of this idea. It was inexpensive and fun to do :)

(Don't mind Nemo in the last picture, he was stalking the Christmas tree!)

A very crafty Christmas

I set out to make my sister the only thing on her list- a purse. She bought the fabric for the purse, I got the rest and spent hours fighting with it too. I made a matching coin purse too. I also made her some painted tiles to hang in her new kitchen. The picture shows them unfinished, they actually have red ribbon to hang, and the backs have animal print felt to prevent scratching. She also got some cherry potholders, my first attempt at anything like that. They came out pretty well and she says they work well too!

Where did I go?!

Sorry! I took a mini hiatus, I think. What really happened was from mid-November until Christmas, every craft I made was either for a swap or for Christmas so I couldn't post them here. I really made a few things I love too!

For starters, I made my first quilt ever. With a little help from my buddy, Liz, I was able to make my mom a quilt for Christmas using a few Moda charm packs. *drool* I picked the Chocolat one because I thought my mom would enjoy those colors best- and she really did love it! I also made some matching pillows with left over blocks I had and some beautiful buttons.

First purse in a long time!

I seem to have gotten away from making bags recently. I did make a few coinpurses for a personal swap, but I don't consider them "purses" per say. So today I picked scraps of all of my favorite fabrics (the ones that coordinated with each other, that is) and put together a cute little bag! My favorite part is the pocket (inside), which of course didn't photograph well! :(
This was my first time using snaps! :)

More fun with fleece!

I wanted to play with my fleece tonight (thanks mom!) so I made some mittens. I think they physically look cute, but the pattern itself needs some tweaking. I forgot about the fact that the wrist part has to fit over your hand to get onto your wrist in the first place. Oops! It managed, but it was a tight squeeze.
So I'm going to work on drawing up a new pattern and make some more of these suckers and try them out on my Etsy. I definitely think they came out cute though. I would ask what you think, but I'm quite sure no one else reads this! hehe
